Membership & Associations:
Family law is my passion. This isn’t a job for me, this is my calling. Realizing that you need the assistance of a family lawyer is both stressful and overwhelming. It often means your world has forever shifted, leaving an uncertain path forward. My focus is on how I can help my clients through their unique situations and support them through the numerous questions and uncertainties that can arise.
I understand and respect that every family’s needs, values, and priorities are different and there is no one-size-fits all solution. Beyond all of the skills and experience I’ve earned since graduating from The University of Western Ontario Law School in 2004, the most valuable skill I have honed is my ability really listen to my clients to understand what their goals and vision are as they navigate through their life-changing situations.
I’ve worked on complex files with trust claims, complicated family business structures, and multiple divisible assets. I have appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice, the Superior Court of Justice, the Divisional Court of Appeal, and the Ontario Court of Appeal. Over the years, clients have sought me out to assist them with challenging parenting issues. I have built my reputation on a practical, reasonable, and problem-solving approach.
I’m particularly passionate about parenting issues, and also collaborative practice, where I feel the interest-based approach to conflict resolution can offer long-lasting results for families.
I was called to the Ontario Bar in 2005 and since 2006, I have practised exclusively in family law. The decision to open my own practice in 2019 was made with the desire to support clients in the GTA/Toronto and Halton/Hamilton areas with my passionate and professional approach to family law. In 2020, I partnered with Adrienne Lee to form Marchetti Lee LLP Family Law.
My client relationships are what drives me each and every day. My clients trust me with the most important aspects of their lives, and each day I work hard to live up to that honour. Settling issues that arise from a breakdown in a relationship shouldn’t destroy you. My focus is to help you to reach a resolution with dignity, respect and the confidence that there are better days ahead.
I bring a compassionate, strategic approach to assisting my clients with their family law needs. I advance my clients’ strategies through negotiation, mediation and the court process, as appropriate for the unique circumstances of each client. In all matters, I take a child-focused approach.
I have successfully assisted clients with separation agreements, negotiated or mediated settlements and trials/arbitrations. Where cost-effective, I will recommend the use of psychologists, parenting mediators, business valuators and other experts to assist clients to streamline or settle their matters. My practice includes complex financial files and those with challenging parenting issues, including child protection concerns.
I was called to the bar in 2002 and practised civil litigation for a number of years at a large Bay Street firm and a litigation boutique before focusing on Family Law. I have appeared at all levels of court, including the Ontario Court of Appeal and Supreme Court of Canada. My extensive experience allows me to identify issues early on and to navigate the court system skillfully.
I joined Marchetti Lee LLP Family Law as an associate in 2022. Since being called to the bar in 2017, I have almost exclusively practiced family and child protection law.
I first became passionate about oral advocacy while completing my history degree at York University. While there, I was actively involved in the York Debate Society and frequently attended competitions across Canada. I competed in the Osgoode Cup, a national undergraduate moot, where I received a Distinguished Oralist award.
I continued to refine my oral advocacy skills at Osgoode Hall Law School. In my first year of law school, I participated in Lerners Cup, where I received a Distinguished Oralist award. In my spare time, I wrote about appellate decisions for The Court, Osgoode’s award-winning blog. I used my advocacy skills to assist low-income clients with their family law matters through the Pro Bono Students Canada Family Law Project (FLP). Assisting parents through the FLP was one of my most rewarding experiences in law school. As a result of my time with the FLP, I decided to pursue a career in family law.
When I’m not working, I can be found tinkering around with new recipes in the kitchen.
I approach all family law issues with compassion, and seek to find practical solutions to issues that arise after separation.
I have been interested in family law since my first year of law school at the University of Toronto, when I volunteered to accompany survivors of domestic violence to family court. I decided to pursue a career in family law after volunteering as a family law caseworker at Downtown Legal Services, where I represented clients in family law matters.
I have practiced family law since my Call to the Bar in 2018. I have helped clients to resolve their family law matters through litigation, mediation and negotiation. I have also assisted senior counsel on complex parenting and financial disputes. As an articling student, I worked on appellate litigation at all levels of Court, including the Supreme Court of Canada.
I have unique experience with child and spousal support enforcement and the Family Responsibility Office. Before entering private practice, I summered and articled for the Family Responsibility Office and litigated enforcement matters throughout Ontario. I use this experience to assist both payors and recipients in navigating issues with the Family Responsibility Office.
Before attending law school, I obtained a Masters of Arts in Economics from Queen’s University. Due to my academic background, I am adept at untangling complicated financial issues.
Outside of work, I enjoy hockey and cheering on the Toronto Maple Leafs, watching bad movies and reading. I am an involved alumnus of Massey College at the University of Toronto.
I graduated from Sheridan College with a Paralegal Diploma (highest standing honours) in 2010 and began working as a law clerk in the same year. In 2012 I began working in family law and have worked exclusively in the field since that time.
I am an advocate for families with special needs children and have extensive special needs training.
I make our clients feel at ease during a challenging time in their lives. I make the collection of disclosure and the completion of financial statements easier, and my excellent organization, communication, and drafting skills are an asset on any file. My warm and friendly nature make it easy for clients to work with me and to trust me with their personal information.
I am passionate about family law. I find great satisfaction in helping clients, and in seeing a file through to completion. I take great pride in my work and in being a member of the Marchetti Lee team.
I was born and raised in Burlington and still call the city home. I love children, dogs, and the outdoors.
